چکیده

This paper considers the problem of finding facial features in frontal color images. For a given image, our method at first detects skin regions on it using color segmentation in a 2D plane of selected color space (HSV, YES, YCrCb or normalized RGB), and after that generates face candidates. Then, we apply methods of fuzzy mathematical morphology to obtain face candidates in order to find a particular feature – a right eyebrow. A computer implementation in MATLAB is made for experimentation and visual results. Key-Words: face detection, skin color segmentation, fuzzy color histogram, fuzzy hit-or-miss transform

Legume Identification by Leaf Vein Images Classification

In this paper we propose an automatic algorithm able to classify legume leaf images considering only the leaf venation patterns (leaf shape, color and texture are excluded). This method processes leaf images captured with a standard scanner and segments the veins using the Unconstrained Hit-or-Miss Transform (UHMT) and adaptive thresholding. We measure several morphological features on the vein...

Detecting Edges in Noisy Face Database Images

In this paper, a morphological-based system for detecting edges in reallife images is presented. The corner stone for this system is the hit-miss transform, which provides good performance in reallife images under noise conditions. The classical implementation of this transform suffers from drawbacks that are tackled in this paper. The new modified hit-miss transform is introduced to provide be...

Color Image Indexing Using Mathematical Morphology

A mathematical morphology based approach for color image indexing is explored in this paper. Morphological signatures are powerful descriptions of the image content in the framework of mathematical morphology. A morphological signature (either a pattern spectrum or a differential morphological profile) is defined as a series of morphological operations (namely openings and closings) considering...

Morphological Template Matching in Color Images

Template matching is a fundamental problem in image analysis and computer vision. It has been addressed very early by Mathematical Morphology, through the well-known Hit-or-Miss Transform. In this chapter, we review most of the existing works on this morphological template matching operator, from the standard case of binary images to the (not so standard) case of grayscale images and the very r...

Automatic classification of legumes using leaf vein image features

In this paper, a procedure for segmenting and classifying scanned legume leaves based only on the analysis of their veins is proposed (leaf shape, size, texture and color are discarded). Three legume species are studied, namely soybean, red and white beans. The leaf images are acquired using a standard scanner. The segmentation is performed using the unconstrained hit-or-miss transform and adap...
